What the title says βοΈ
Abundant sunshine, blue skies, warm afternoon temperatures β what more can you ask for in late October? Mother Nature will keep delivering the goods during the week ahead.
High temperatures are forecast to be within a few degrees of a record on Monday, reaching the upper 70s β almost 20 degrees above average for the time of year.
This will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday before a front blows through on Wednesday night, cooling things off for the late week period. But the sunshine will continue.
Just 0.20 inches of rain has fallen at Dutchess County Airport in Poughkeepsie so far this month. The driest October on record occurred in 1963, when the monthly total rainfall was 0.36 inches. Weβre officially on βrecord watchβ.

The week ahead
Sorry, no snow days this week. Just sun days π
Monday: plentiful sunshine with near-record high temperatures in the upper 70s
Tuesday: like Mondayβ¦
Wednesday: like Monday and Tuesday, just slightly cooler
Thursday: breezy and cooler with highs in the upper 50s
Friday: abundant sunshine, less wind
Saturday-Sunday: warming up with sunshine
Looking ahead to the week of October 28th, another substantial warming trend is in store, as visualized below. Temperatures could once again reach into the 70s! Below average rainfall looks set to continue.
In the tropics
The tropics have reawakened with two systems currently active: Nadine and Oscar. Neither poses a threat to the U.S., though Oscar will bring impacts to Cuba and the Turks and Caicos before swirling toward Bermuda later in the week. Nadine is over Mexico. I donβt think this is the last of the hurricane activity this season, so stay tuned.
This weekend, my colleague Tristan Meyers snapped this photo of New Zealandβs tallest mountain β Aoraki/Mt Cook. It stands at 12,218 ft tall and is still generously snow-covered as of mid-spring. Eventually, similarly snowy scenes will return to the Hudson Valley ποΈ
