School’s out for summer and hot weather is here to stay… mostly.

After a week that brought record-breaking humidity to the Northeast, the season’s first heat wave, and the Hudson Valley’s first official 100-degree temperature reading since July 2011, weather patterns will turn more typical this coming week.

The punishingly hot air mass from this past week will soon reach Europe, sending temperatures into the 100s from Spain to Germany.

For the Hudson Valley, high heat and humidity will be in force to start the week, followed by somewhat lower humidity from Wednesday onward — especially on Friday. Another surge of 90-degree heat may arrive next weekend.

The highest temperatures this week will be found in western states

I recently published an analysis on how humidity patterns are changing in the Hudson Valley. Do you think the climate has gotten more humid over time? Find out by clicking the below link.

The week ahead

Hot and humid weather early in the week will fade after a front on Tuesday afternoon, giving way to slightly cooler and less humid conditions on Wednesday.

Weather for July 4th is looking good! 🌭

Monday: mostly sunny, hot, and becoming more humid

Tuesday: an approaching front will bring scattered showers and storms, mainly in the afternoon

Wednesday: not quite as hot nor humid with sunshine

Thursday: seasonably warm with a chance for a passing PM shower or t-storm

Friday: weather looking good for July 4th! 🎆

Saturday-Sunday: turning warmer, looking dry for now…

Looking ahead to the week of July 7, conditions are looking hot and humid with occasional showers and storms 🌡️
