👋 Hello there! With 8 days above 50 degrees this month, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was already spring. But on Wednesday, Mother Nature says “not so fast!”, offering up a reminder of the season we’re actually in ❄️
Many schools are on break and naturally this is when it decides to snow! 🤦♂️
Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for Sullivan County (starting 1:00 pm), Ulster County (starting 4:00 pm), and eastern Dutchess County (starting 4:00 pm).
What? Wet snow, changing to sleet, freezing rain, and rain, with icing most likely north of I-84 and in elevated areas near the Catskills
When? Mainly after 2:00 pm; wet snow may fall steadily during the afternoon/evening commute, with precipitation tapering off on Thursday morning
How much? For areas south of I-84, a coating to at most an inch is possible on grass and cars. For areas north of I-84, a coating-3 inches is expected, highest near and in the Catskills where temperatures will remain below freezing for the duration of the event.
Impact? A high chance for early dismissals near and in the Catskills. A medium chance for early dismissals and the cancellation of after school activities across the rest of the region. Hudson Valley roads should remain wet due to above freezing temperatures, but snow-covered and slippery roads are likely in the Catskills by mid-to-late afternoon Wednesday.
👀 A more organized storm system is possible later Monday and Tuesday. I’ll be in touch!
