Surprise! Burst of Saturday snow ❄️
Update #648a: a burst of snow is expected in the Hudson Valley early Saturday morning.
Hello! When the week started, I wasn’t expecting to write an update about snow, but here we are.
For it to snow (and stick) in April in the Hudson Valley, at least two things are typically needed:
For it to be happening at night
For the precipitation rates to be heavy
Both of those boxes will be ticked early Saturday and a third box — being located at a higher elevation, especially above 500 to 1000 feet — will be ticked for some folks in the region.
A winter weather advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday.
What to expect
Rain is forecast to change to snow between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. Saturday and could briefly become heavy between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m.
During this time, temperatures will be between 33 and 35 degrees, but snow rates could become heavy enough for it to stick.
For valley locations, a coating to 2 inches may fall, while some higher elevations could see more than 2 inches.
By 10 a.m., waning precipitation rates and rising temperatures will bring improving conditions, with snow either failing to stick or changing back to rain.
Use extra caution on the roads early Saturday and enjoy the snowy surprise!

Ughhh, I LOVE snow but what's it going to do to alllll the pretty little wild violets blanketing my lawn?! I've only seen crocus sporting snow bonnets; I hope the little wild violets survive!
