The next winter weather threat is approaching and this time it won’t be happening on a weekend.
This one looks pretty complex and may come with a variety of precipitation types.
As of Tuesday morning, here’s a rough timeline of the weather to come:
Rain approaches the region early Thursday morning - I’m keeping an eye on temperatures in case of any risk for freezing rain at first
A cold rain falls for most of Thursday
Rain changes to an icy mix on Thursday night or Friday morning
Sleet and/or freezing rain continues into Friday afternoon, with at least some chance that a change to snow takes place
There is uncertainty in the exact timing of the rain-to-ice changeover, but it could certainly cause travel headaches.
The chance for school impacts is rising, with an “ice day” a distinct possibility on Friday at this point.
Stay tuned! I’ll be in touch.
