Hello again!

Snow is expected today, with the main change from yesterday being a slightly later start time — now between 9:00 am and noon, from south to north.

This makes it a very close call between closings and early dismissals.

The steadiest snow is expected during the afternoon hours, when roads could become snow-covered during a heavier burst. The window of concern starts around noon and lasts until around 4:00 pm, as illustrated below.

⚠️ There is concern for a heavier burst of snow (frontogenetically forced 🔴) between noon - 4:00 pm in the #HudsonValley, moving from south to north 🌨️ This is when road conditions could quickly go from wet > slushy > snowy + slippery! Image here valid @ 2:00 pm.

In terms of accumulation, 2-4 inches looks reasonable on grass, with lesser amounts on paved surfaces. Road conditions will vary from wet, to slushy, to snowy and slippery depending on the intensity of the snow.

Snow will end this evening, generally by 7:00 pm. Temperatures in the 20s overnight will cause wet areas to freeze with slippery conditions on untreated surfaces lasting through the Friday morning commute.

Take care out there!

In addition, rain may change to snow on Saturday with some accumulation possible, particularly during the afternoon. I will issue another update if necessary.

At this point, I think we’re all ready for spring 😄
