Meteorological summer, which runs from June through August, starts on Wednesday. Mother Nature is getting a head start, with summer-like weather forecast for the last two days of meteorological spring (Monday and Tuesday) 🌡️ — after a comfortable day today (Sunday).
🏊♂️ If you manage to get the pool opened up, you can take a dip to cool off from 90-degree heat and humidity.
A front will approach the region on Wednesday, causing a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
Thursday looks less humid behind the front and probably dry. While the forecast is currently a bit uncertain, an area of rain could pass through the region on Thursday night and/or Friday.
Right now, next weekend is looking decent. Cooler air will filter into the region from Canada, allowing for highs in the 70s.
The week of June 6th doesn’t look particularly hot to start, but it could finish that way.
You might have noticed that this is my *500th* email update. A little math (500 updates divided by 52 weeks) shows that I’ve been sending weekly newsletters for almost 10 years, although my forecasting efforts date back about 18!
Some Hudson Valley residents have been on the journey since day #1, which originally was a list of emails that I maintained in a spreadsheet. Every week, I’d faithfully paste the emails into the “to” line. By word of mouth, things grew. Eventually, the recipients grew to beyond 500, which is the limit of the number of recipients in a standard email! So I sent two. Eventually, the admin of maintaining the list and demand for the updates meant that I needed to try something else. I started something called a “mailchimp”, which allows you to email thousands of folks with the click of a button — at a cost. As the blogosphere grew, so did the options for expressing one’s thoughts. Eventually, I landed here (Substack). My modern newsletters not only come with a description of the weather for the week to come, but illustrative animations and photos from New Zealand. A little different from the ones I sent years ago (see example below).
Whether you are a BenNollWeather original or a more recent subscriber, I hope these messages make your week a little brighter 🌞 — even when you aren’t a fan of the forecast!
And in case you’re wondering, I look forward to writing these updates for years to come, even if I’m based on the other side of the world! 🍻

Have a marvelous start to meteorological summer! 🌴
