Making good progress!
Thatโs how Iโd describe the weather over the next week. April-like temperatures will fade away, as more seasonable conditions build in.
It will be much better than this past weekโฆ have a look:
Monday: the week will start off on a sunny, warm note
Tuesday: a front will pass through the region, cooling things off a bit, but it looks dry
Wednesday: picture-perfect! ๐ผ๏ธ
Thursday: like Wednesday, but warmer
Friday: like Thursday, but warmer yet! ๐
Saturday-Sunday: probably warm and dry to start the weekend, but a front may approach on Sunday, bringing a chance for a little rainโฆ
A cooler change is possible during the week of May 15th, but it doesnโt look particularly wet. The chart below shows that regional rainfall will be well below normal over the next 10 days.
In short, expect more scenes like these ๐
What Iโm working on for premium subscribers: hurricane season outlook. The Atlantic hurricane season starts on June 1st and runs through November 30th. Last year, the region was spared from tropical storm impacts, unlike 2021, when there were several. What does the risk look like for 2023? Stay tuned!
Blast from the past ๐
On Friday, I had an amazing day visiting Valley Central Middle School (VCMS) with my family and presenting on what it's like to be a meteorologist, live in New Zealand, and predict Hudson Valley snow days.
The excitement of the students and teachers was palpable as I walked the halls of my former school, right from the start when I got to assist with the morning announcements!
I attended VCMS from 2002-2005 โ long before many of the students whom I was presenting to were born. One of the pictures below includes the teachers that I had when I went to VCMS that are still working there!
There were a lot of autographs signed (more than I could have ever predicted!), selfies taken, and memories exchanged.
It was a phenomenal effort by the Valley Central team to make this happen. If you were a part of making the day go so smoothly -from administrators, to teachers, and students- your kindness and generosity is much appreciated.
This was part of the Valley Central Education Foundation grant for weather exploration.
Here are a few photos from the big dayโฆ
Hope your week progresses as well as the weather โ๏ธ
Thanks Ben! Stay well!
