With a title like that, you don’t have to read the rest of the post, right? 😁
☀️ Mother Nature sure shone down on all the mothers out there today — hope you had a great day!
Aside from a bit of wildfire smoke and some weekend rain, much of the week will be about as great.
🔥 Yes, you read that correctly — wildfire smoke! Have you noticed the milky, grey color of the sky this past week? It hasn’t looked as blue as it normally does due to smoke lofted high up in the atmosphere, streaming down from Alberta, Canada.
As a cold front pushes toward the region later on Tuesday, smoke concentration will increase once again. This shouldn’t affect air quality on the ground, however.
Here’s how the week ahead is looking:
Monday: mostly sunny and pleasant — pretty much perfect! 💯
Tuesday: warmer and breezier than Monday, but still a good deal of sun, possibly shrouded by wildfire smoke late in the day
Wednesday: much cooler and breezy as Canadian air punches southward; cold at night, protect your plants! ⚠️ 🪴
Thursday: brilliantly sunny and comfortable in the 60s
Friday: like Thursday, but warmer 🌡️
Saturday: probably dry to start and maybe much of the day… chances for some rain increase later in the day and at night
Sunday: some rain may be around, particularly early in the day
Looking ahead to the week of the 22nd, the weather will probably trend in a warmer, drier direction.
In short, expect more views like this one, of the Sky Top Tower from the river-to-ridge trail in New Paltz 🧗
What I’m working on for premium subscribers: hurricane season outlook. The Atlantic hurricane season starts on June 1st and runs through November 30th. Last year, the region was spared from tropical storm impacts, unlike 2021, when there were several. What does the risk look like for 2023? I’ll be sending my seasonal hurricane outlook to premium subscribers during the weekend of May 27th.
Be a tourist in your home state 🍎
It’s been a while since I’ve been in this part of the world. I’ve taken some time to re-explore the “backyard”, so to speak. And by backyard, I mean New York City!
I had never previously walked the Brooklyn Bridge, but would totally recommend it now that I have, as it offers unparalleled views of the big city 🏙️
The city seems to be really “springing” back to life with the weather!
Hope your week is as sunny as the weather ✌️
