This weather! What’s with it? When it’s not the smoke, it’s the jungle-like levels of humidity. And with the jungle-like levels of humidity comes tropical downpours.
Can we just get some decent summer weather for once? I have some good news: that’s coming soon… lasting for a few days, at least!
I don’t think the muggy air is going to depart any time soon, but at least there’s a few dry days on the horizon.
It also hasn’t reached 90 degrees since June 2nd, a streak that could come to an end this week, most likely on Thursday.
Smoke wise, there’s still a little low-level smoke hovering in our skies, but that will continue to ease today (Sunday) and mostly fade by Monday. At this time, there’s no indication that significant smoke concentrations will return later in the week.
🎆 So if you’re planning a party (I get the feeling that a lot of you are), hopefully this post helps you pick the best day.
I’ll start off by giving each day of the week a party popper rating out of 5. The more party poppers, the better the weather 😁
Monday: 🎉🎉 — hit-and-miss but heavy PM showers and storms
Tuesday: 🎉🎉🎉 — isolated PM showers and storms, less numerous than on Monday and dying off in the evening around firework time…
Wednesday: 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 — probably dry!
Thursday: 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 — probably dry!
Friday: 🎉🎉🎉🎉 — possibly dry!
Saturday-Sunday: 🎉🎉🎉 — the shower and thunderstorm risk may return
Looking ahead to the week of the 10th, I unfortunately see a very unsettled pattern taking shape. My best advice would be to take advantage of the few dry days we’ll have this week!
Humidity in a map
Earlier this week, I sent out a tweet highlighting the states that would be experiencing jungle-like levels of humidity at some point in the next 10 days. It went viral with over 1.2 million views!
So I decided to update it for you…
…clearly, the west is best if you want to escape the rain forest-like mugginess! The Hudson Valley remains in the green 🤢
Rainbow capital of the Southern Hemisphere
Meanwhile, in New Zealand, our winter weather turned unsettled again this past week. Winter is rainbow season — the combination of frequent showers followed by sunshine and a low sun angle might just make Auckland the rainbow capital of the Southern Hemisphere! 🌈
This week, I also spotted an unusual cloud type, mammatus, whose pouches were protruding outward from a towering cumulus (thunderstorm) cloud.
Hope your week is full of color! 🎇
I have to tell ya, I am not missing the 90’s and humidity 🥰
