Hello there! Sick of the humidity yet?
(I think I just heard you all from New Zealand š£)
Iām so sorry to say, but thereās no end in sight š«£ (Iām just Mother Natureās messenger!)
Hereās the 10-day humidity chart (itās still a jungle out there š“)ā¦
Not to mention, the National Weather Service has placed the region in a moderate risk for excessive rainfall from Sunday morning - Monday morning. It stems from a flow of tropical moisture from the Gulf of Mexico that that will fuel slow-moving heavy rain and thunderstorms.
It will come with a risk for flash flooding, especially in low-lying and poor drainage areas, from this afternoon through early Monday! ā ļø

My latest premium post, on how the Hudson Valleyās climate is changing, highlighted an increase in atmospheric moisture in recent decades, linked to our warming temperatures š
As air warms, its capacity to hold water increases at the Clausius-Clapeyron rate, about 4% per degree Fahrenheit. A warmer atmosphere loads the dice toward heavier rainfall events, but the right ingredients still need to come together first to squeeze the moisture out of the clouds.
A climate change dashboard for the Hudson Valley
Iām pleased to share a brand new climate resource for Hudson Valley educators, farmers, growers, long-term planners, policy-makers, and anyone who is interested in tracking our changing climate. This is a project Iāve long wanted to embark on to provide some baseline information for our region. The process is largely automated, such that every year Iāll be able to run a script by around January 10th that summarizes the climate over the last year and
š¤ļø Weāll catch a break from the downpours on Tuesday⦠enjoy it, because it wonāt last long!
Monday: very humid with areas of heavy rain during the morning; easing, then additional scattered showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon āļø
š Tuesday: the one day that promises to be dry (and a bit less humid)! š
Wednesday: mostly good with a slight chance for a brief, passing shower or storm
Thursday: another influx of tropical moisture and humidity increases the risk for heavy showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon and evening ā”
Friday: the same air mass as Thursday⦠an elevated chance for more unsettled weather
Saturday-Sunday: the weekend isnāt looking too bad at this point! š¤
Looking ahead to the week of the 17th, hot and humid conditions with thunderstorms are likely to continueā¦
Hang in there and stay š
We know you are only the messenger
Thank goodness for air conditioning but donāt want to see my electric bill
Thank you Ben! At least we arenāt having a drought š¤·āāļø Stay safe!
