Hello there! You’re hearing from me and it’s not a Sunday. That can only mean one thing: a storm’s a brewin’! ❄️
The disturbance that will energize this weekend’s storm is out over the Pacific Ocean. Once it reaches the West Coast on Wednesday, forecast confidence should increase.
For now, here’s a general outlook:
What? Snow, possibly heavy. Breezy.
When? Saturday night-Sunday.
How much? As of this writing, a plowable accumulation is favored with a moderate chance for more than 6 inches across most of the mid-Hudson Valley.
Impacts? Snow-covered and slippery roads on Saturday night and Sunday morning. Some blowing and drifting of the snow is possible. Some snow is probable in NYC and airports there may experience delays and/or cancellations. Depending on how long the snow lasts on Sunday, school delays may occur on Monday. However, there looks to be enough time to plow and shovel on Sunday afternoon as the snow comes to an end.
Sorry to those hoping and wishing for a snow day: the first snowstorm just so happens to land on a weekend this year — Mother Nature needs to sort out her schedule! 🙃
I’ll be in touch later in the week as details come into focus. Have a great week.
