Hello! It’s me again 😃
Are you ready for spring yet?
Before I drop the latest winter weather news, allow me to transport you to summer…
This my “backyard” in New Zealand — just a short drive down the road and just what the doctor ordered to beat the summer heat.
Hey, look on the bright side: the days are getting longer in the Hudson Valley by about 1-2 minutes a day! Meteorological spring (March 1st) about a month and a half away…
But the reality is, old man winter is far from done with us. The next trick up his sleeve is another heavy rain and wind event on Friday night. Rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches and wind gusts of 40-50 mph will comprise a storm that is looking very similar to the one that came through on Tuesday night. More flooding is possible, especially in flood-prone areas.
Friday night’s storm will give way to a windy weekend with cold temperatures arriving on Sunday. This will set the stage for old man winter’s second trick 🪄
Don’t get too excited, this is not set in stone, but heading into the long weekend I wanted to give you a heads up about the potential so that you can plan accordingly!
Here are two possible scenarios for next week:
Scenario 1: Storm tracks close to the Hudson Valley. Under this scenario, snow could start early enough on Tuesday to cause a snow day and last long enough to cause a delay on Wednesday.
Scenario 2: Storm tracks farther away from the Hudson Valley. Here, the region would be mostly missed or receive a glancing blow later on Tuesday and/or Tuesday night.
Because the energy that will help form the storm is still out over the Pacific Ocean, forecast details will bounce around over the next day or two. I expect that the forecast will become clearer by Sunday — just in time for my update on Sunday morning!
In the meantime, enjoy your weekend, however long it may be… 😉
Thanks Ben. Enjoy the beach.
