A September-like air mass will greet the Hudson Valley this week, delivering comfortable days and cool mornings from Tuesday onward ☺️
Driven by a high pressure system from Canada’s Northwest Territories, the weather won’t just be cool, but it will also be dry.
The good news is that this kind of weather may not be a stranger to the region during meteorological fall, which runs from September-November. I discussed a favorable fall outlook, weather-wise, in my latest premium post:
The week ahead
In the week ahead, today (Sunday) and Monday look the least pleasant — then it’s high pressure city 😎
⚡ Showers and thunderstorms are likely today (Sunday) and again on Monday afternoon. They look slow-moving and heavy at times today into tonight.
Monday: partly sunny and humid with scattered PM showers and thunderstorms
Tuesday: less humid and much cooler with decreasing clouds
Wednesday: a cool morning; a mix of sun and clouds — September-like! 🌟
Thursday: a chilly morning; plenty of sun 🌟
Friday: another cool morning, followed by a sunny and warmer afternoon 🌟
Saturday-Sunday: sunny and warmer 🌟
Looking ahead to the week of August 26th, conditions may continue to be drier than normal and warmer than average 🌻
Tropical update
Hurricane Ernesto is expected to pass near St John’s, Newfoundland, on Monday night while sucking up Canadian wildfire smoke.
After that, a break in tropical activity is forecast for the rest of the week.
The next chance for a tropical storm or hurricane will likely wait until at least the week of August 26th.
I hope the weather this week will have you walking with an extra pep in your step! ✌️
Been enjoying these past 3 Fall-like mornings checking on my flowers as I sip my coffee. The sunflowers 🌻 I planted (from seeds that fell from a HUGE flower in the Village of Montgomery last year) are growing taller than my deck; the flower heads have begun to form! I can't wait for them). And a clutch of painted-lady turtle eggs are soon to hatch in our yard: we should have new babies by 9/10! Fall is definitely in-gear in Montgomery!
My kind of weather👏👏👏
