Rounds of snow showers will cross the Hudson Valley and Catskills on Wednesday night and Thursday.
A brief burst of moderate snow is possible across the region between 6:00-9:00 am Thursday, producing a quick coating to half inch.
Otherwise, the on-and-off nature of the snow means that it won’t amount to much.
For valley areas, temperatures will range from just above freezing to near 40, meaning that any snow will have a difficult time sticking to paved surfaces. In the Catskills, the story may be a little different, with below freezing temperatures enabling some accumulation. There, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from this evening through Thursday.
Any flakes on Thursday afternoon will be windswept, as very blustery conditions develop. A Wind Advisory has been issued for Thursday.
What to know
What? Occasional snow, mostly light.
When? Wednesday evening through Thursday.
How much? A coating up to an inch, mainly on non-paved surfaces. More possible in elevated areas like the Catskills.
Impacts? A burst of snow during the Thursday morning commute could lead to reduced visibility and a quick covering — travel to the conditions. Scattered school delays are possible, particularly in elevated areas, but widespread delays are not expected on Thursday.
A significant warmup is expected heading into next week.
Have a good day!
