Toasty temperatures continue
Update #651: Warm temperatures this week may be followed by cooler conditions in early May.
Hello! Have you been enjoying the warmer weather?
A five day streak of high temperatures in the 70s and 80s will come to an end on Sunday as strong winds make it feel even cooler.
However, temperatures will quickly rebound during the week ahead and April will end with unusually warm temperatures across the Hudson Valley, capping off a month of two halves, weather wise. It will again reach the 80s.
Does this mean that summer-like weather is arriving early this year? Not quite!
Speaking of summer, I’ll soon start working on a summer outlook, which I hope to release to premium subscribers before the end of May. Click the button below to upgrade your subscription.
Pollen counts are now high, something that allergy sufferers may be noticing. The extra wind is unhelpful in that regard.
The week ahead
The week ahead will start warm and turn cooler after a gusty front passes late Friday.
Monday: sunny and warmer, winds easing
Tuesday: mostly sunny and very warm with a breeze developing
Wednesday: not as warm as Tuesday, sunshine continues
Thursday: increasing clouds, slight chance for a shower
Friday: very warm with a chance for showers and storms as a front approaches
Saturday-Sunday: not as warm with sun and clouds
Looking ahead to the week of May 5, conditions may be on the cooler side, with 60s more likely than 70s and 80s. In other words, this week may be more like May, while next week is more like April 🤷♂️
Did you know? ☀️
This week, I analyzed the level of cloud cover across the United States so far this spring for the Washington Post.
I found that the United States has had well below average cloud cover, with more than three dozen states experiencing fewer clouds than normal this season.
New York hasn’t been one of those states. It has ranked as 20th-cloudiest so far this spring, though the cloudiest parts of the state have been to the north of the Hudson Valley.
