Slowly turning a corner
Update #691: Temperatures near 30 degrees will feel like a heat wave in the Hudson Valley this week.

There was no snow in the Hudson Valley this weekend. You’d have to go to the Carolinas — or Florida — for that.
Early Sunday, it was still flurrying near Tampa while a blizzard was hitting the Outer Banks of North Carolina and the beach was covered in snow in Myrtle Beach. Wow.
Meanwhile, the weather was more benign in the Hudson Valley, and it was set to remain that way as a gentle warming trend ensued.
And by gentle, I mean it might get to freezing, which for all intents and purposes will probably feel like a heat wave given how cold it has been.
The last time it was above freezing was January 23.
If that doesn’t happen on Tuesday, then it probably won’t happen until next week — around or after February 10.
I’m watching Wednesday morning and Friday for the possibility of some snow and will update things as and when needed.
Then there’s the weekend. That next Arctic blast looks brutal.
The week ahead
The week ahead will be seasonably cold with no big storms, followed by a major polar plunge next weekend.
Monday: cold but tranquil
Tuesday: a cold start, decent afternoon
Wednesday: slight chance for a bit of snow early, turning sunny
Thursday: sunny but chilly
Friday: Arctic front approaches, increasing chance for snow showers later
Saturday-Sunday: frigid 🥶
Looking ahead to the week of February 9, I see some light at the end of the tunnel. There’s some milder air out there in the distance.
Enjoy the “heat wave” this week ✌️

Great forecast. The psychology of relative warmth is wild, 30 degrees feeling like relief after weeks below freezing. I remeber a winter in upstate NY where we had a similiar stretch and people were outside in t-shirts when it hit 35. That next arctic blast on the weekend does look rough tho.
Thank you Ben. The temperature reached 25 degrees yesterday in Matamoras,Pa. It felt like a heat wave🤪
