Weird weather 🤔
Premium update #20
A dusting of snow, a deep rumble of thunder, and a 56 degree morning. All in about 24 hours during this past week in the Hudson Valley.
Quite rarely do we get a day that is bang-on average for the time of year — averages are a product of the swings and extremes that our climate is known for.
But this January… this January has been pretty weird. It’s been about 11 degrees above average this month so far. 11 degrees! That’s a huge departure.
A few weeks ago I wrote that January 2023 was probably going to track closer to the warmest January on record (1990) than the coldest one. But I wouldn’t have guessed that after the first 13 days of the month, we’d be 3 degrees warmer than the warmest January the region has ever experienced!
So what in the world is going on and when will things change?
