Season’s greetings!
A high temperature near 50 on Christmas Day would put it around the 85th percentile of high temperatures for December 25th in the Hudson Valley.
It’s unusually mild, but not quite as unusual as 65 degrees on Christmas in 2020 or 63 degrees back in 1964, the warmest Christmases on record for the region.
Our last white Christmas happened back in 2017. You may enjoy my latest premium post called “A brief history of white Christmases in the Hudson Valley”.
The mild weather won’t last for much longer: a cold spell will likely ring in the new year.
🎄 Monday: a relatively mild Christmas with more clouds than sun
Tuesday: plenty of clouds, but likely remaining dry
Wednesday: overcast with some rain, mainly later 🌧️
Thursday: clouds limiting sun, a passing shower or two possible
Friday: becoming cooler with partial sunshine, a passing shower still possible
Saturday-Sunday: chilly, but generally looking dry as of this writing 🥶
Looking ahead to the week of January 1st, chilly temperatures are signaled, with days in the 30s and nights in the 20s. It’s looking drier than normal to start, but the end of the week could feature a chance for wintry precipitation 👀
Old Saint Noll saw “snow days” on your wish list. He’s getting ready to ship those down from the North Pole to the Hudson Valley. Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and happy New Year! 🎅
Merry Christmas Ben ! Love being a subsciber !
Happy holidays! I heard this will be the very 1st Xmas ever WITH NO SNOW in northern Minnesota! Say it ain't so, Ben. Please say it ain't so!
Peace.
