Hello to you and hello to spring! 👋
After two days in the 70s last week and the month so far being over 10˚F warmer than average, the arrival of spring this week will coincide with a cool change for the Hudson Valley. The flowers won’t be a fan of the sub-freezing temperatures! 🌸
Astronomical spring officially starts on Tuesday, March 19th.
It’s a good reminder that weather is not linear — our climatic journey always comes with peaks and dips, like the stock market.
On that note, if you’re wondering what summer and the hurricane season may be like this year, I’ve just released a new video for premium subscribers:
If you’re wondering about snow days… the chances are dwindling at this point. While a few wet flakes may make an appearance this week, it’s a looking like a relatively drier week overall.
Monday: breezy and cooler than Sunday
Tuesday: happy spring! Breezy and cooler yet 🍃
Wednesday: breezy with snow showers or flurries possible early, then scattered, passing rain or wet snow showers later
Thursday: cold and windy 📉
Friday: cloudy and remaining cool; a touch of rain or wet snow can’t be ruled out
Update [Wednesday, March 20th]: rain is now expected in the Hudson Valley on Saturday as the southern storm reaches the region.
Saturday-Sunday: the weekend will probably have a storm brewing to the south and east of the region — as long as it stays there and high pressure holds, dry conditions will be favored. It’ll be a few days before this forecast crystallizes, so keep watching.
💧 Looking ahead to the week of March 25th, the Gulf of Mexico looks to send moisture surging up the eastern seaboard. This will increase the chance for rain and milder temperatures in the Hudson Valley during the week when many schools will be on spring break. Numerous eastern states may face similarly wet conditions.
The map below shows forecast rainfall over the next two weeks — 2 to 4 inches are forecast for many states along the East Coast (pink coloring).
Things can change, but certainly check back this time next week if you have plans.
No matter the weather, I hope you have a spring in your step this week! ✌️
Thank you Ben. I am personally looking forward to a gradual change in temperatures. It got too warm too fast last week. Stay safe.
